Much of my work is inspired by nature and the beauty of the magnificent color and detail of the unusual (or the usual made unusual). It may not be the object that is unusual but the circumstances of that object, whether color, size, texture or background that catches my eye.
As I progress on my art journey I use a number of mediums. I like to experiment with combinations of materials to see their effects, so I am always testing to see what combinations of mediums suit my subjects. So far, nothing has blown up in my studio.
I am at home working with organic materials such as gourds or clay, capturing the moment with a camera, to the almost obsessive detail in collage and representational pieces.
There is the whimsical as well. Who can resist a goofy looking frog, the long stare of a turtle, or the antics of a cat? If I can project the essence of my subject then I have done my job. It's all fun and amazing.
